The mod imagines what it would be like to explore those same ruins, albeit with an Amnesia twist: the ideas of sanity and despair, coupled with a decaying, isolated environment. The area exists in the game, but like a lot of content for the Dark Souls games, was trimmed down and feels unfinished. The mod focuses on the eponymous Profaned Capital, which in Dark Souls lore, was formerly a prosperous city, but is now ruined and largely abandoned. Called Profaned Capital, the still-in-development mod takes a look at one particular piece of Dark Souls lore that is ripe for development. Coincidentally (or not), there’s another mod in the works for Amnesia that brings another popular franchise into Frictional Games’ world: Dark Souls 3.
